A winter holiday in Leogang which doesn't include a traditional tobogganing session is doing things by halves. In Leogang and neighbouring Saalfelden there are several natural toboggan runs available for family fun. Here are two suggestions:
- The 6 km natural toboggan run on the Biberg meanders in plenty of twists and turns through the forest to the valley. The ascent, of around 2 hours, can also be made a little more manageable by using the shuttle service provided.
- The "Toboggan run on the Asitz" is another opportunity to speed into the valley. Every Tuesday and Friday between 18:00 and 22:30 you can head up in comfort on the Asitz cable car and hire a sled at the top. The sled ride itself then proceeds via the floodlit track from the intermediate station to the Riederalm at the valley station.
And since it is a well known fact that fresh air gives you an appetite, while tobogganing in Leogang there are plenty of cosy Alpine lodges and inns catering for your corporeal well-being. You will be indulged with regional treats as well as hot and cold drinks! Incidentally, sturdy footwear and winter clothing are required.
